# Forms: free forms and surveys with unlimited responses

Forms is a free alternative to Typeform and Google Forms, and a free form backend like Formspree. Build a form or survey, share the link or QR code, and see responses live. There is no cap on forms, questions or responses, no ads, no paid tier, and no sign-up for you or the people filling it in.

## What it does

- Eleven question types: short answer, paragraph, email, number, date, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, a 1 to 5 star rating, a 0 to 10 scale, and yes or no.
- Required questions, help text, and questions that show only for some answers (for example: show "Which nights?" only if "Are you coming?" is Yes).
- A link that works on any phone or computer, a QR code to print, and links with answers filled in ahead (add ?Question=Answer to the link).
- Answers on a phone: big tap targets, a progress bar, and Enter moves to the next question. A half-filled form survives a reload.
- Live results: a chart or the latest answers for every question, the average and Net Promoter Score for 0 to 10 scales, and every response to search and read, one by one.
- CSV export for Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
- Close a form, reopen it, duplicate it, delete one response or all of them.
- A form endpoint for any website: paste the HTML form, or post JSON from your own code. Visitors see a thank-you page with a link back to your site, and a hidden field turns away most spam bots.
- No account: your browser keeps your forms, and a private admin link opens them on any device.

## How to use it

1. Go to https://forms-free.openapps.xyz/new, add a title and your questions, and press Create form.
2. Copy the link and send it, print the QR code, or paste the HTML into your website. Save your admin link: it is the only way to manage the form from another browser.
3. Watch responses arrive in Summary and Responses, and download a CSV whenever you like.

## What it does not do

No file uploads, payments, signatures, custom themes or one-question-per-screen layout. It does not email you when a response arrives: results update live, and an AI assistant can check them through the API. Only the browser that made a form, and anyone with its admin link, can read the responses.

## Compared with paid apps (checked October 2026)

| | Forms | Typeform free | Jotform free | Formspree free |

Plans change, so check before you rely on them. Google Forms and Microsoft Forms are free too, but you need a Google or Microsoft account to build a form.

## For AI assistants

Forms has a public API with no key: https://functions.bounded.sh/apps/cf614aedcf4cdabfa9c45095/api

- POST /forms creates a form in one call and returns the url to send people, plus a private ownerKey and adminUrl.
- GET /forms/<formId> reads its questions.
- POST /forms/<formId>/responses sends a response (JSON, or a plain HTML form post).
- GET /forms/<formId>/responses reads every response with a summary per question (header x-owner-key). Add ?format=csv for CSV.
- PATCH /forms/<formId> changes or closes a form, and DELETE /forms/<formId>/responses/<responseId> deletes a response (header x-owner-key).

## Questions

**Is there a free alternative to Typeform?**
Yes. Forms is free with no response limit, no ads and no sign-up. It has eleven question types, required questions, questions that show only for some answers, live results with a chart per question, CSV export, a QR code and a form endpoint for websites. It does not do file uploads, payments or custom themes.

**Is Forms really free?**
Yes. There is no paid plan, no ads and no limit on forms, questions or responses. Each response is one small write, and OpenApps pays for it.

**Is there a response limit?**
No. Typeform's free plan stops at 10 responses a month and Jotform's at 100 submissions a month. Forms keeps collecting, with no cap.

**Do I or the people filling it in need an account?**
No. You build a form without signing up, and people fill it in without an account. Your browser keeps your forms, and an admin link lets you manage a form from any device.

**Can a question show only for some answers?**
Yes. Give a question a condition, like: show only if Team is Design. It shows when an earlier multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown or yes or no question has that answer, and it is skipped otherwise.

**Can I use it as a backend for my website's contact form?**
Yes. Every form has an endpoint. Point your HTML form's action at it and submissions show up in your results, or post JSON from your own code. It is a free Formspree alternative with no monthly cap.

**Who can see the responses?**
Only the form's owners: the browser that made it, and anyone you give the admin link to. People filling in the form cannot see other responses.

**Can I export responses?**
Yes. Download every response as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

**Does Forms email me when a response comes in?**
No. Forms keeps no accounts, so it has no email address to write to. Results update live while the page is open, and an AI assistant can check a form for you through the API.

**Can my AI assistant build a form for me?**
Yes. Forms has a public API with no key. An assistant can create a form from a list of questions in one call, send you the link, and read the responses later with the owner key it got back.

Forms is an OpenApp: free, with public source and its own agent. More free apps: https://free-apps.openapps.xyz/
